This past Sunday (October 12th), our event “Raus aufs Feld!”, the German-speaking version of “Out into the Fields!”, took place in a small but very warm and beautiful setting.
We began our visit with two small olive groves in the area of “Bogdani”, one of which newly planted and the other burned by fire five years ago (see our entry of 21.3.2025). There we took time to observe the nature of the olive tree and admire its remarkable ability to regenerate (perhaps even drawing some inspiration from it ourselves). We then continued to two productive groves in the “Voulgaraki” area, where we talked about our region’s special olive variety, the Manaki, and about how to properly care for the trees. Our guests even picked olives themselves in order to cure and prepare at home! That’s exactly the kind of hands-on experience we love to see!
We ended our outing in the beautiful olive grove “Monolos”, on the slopes of Athikia, where we enjoyed our traditional brunch campagnard among the trees.
