With great pleasure, we are once again organizing our annual summer photography contest and invite both professional and amateur photographers to take part. This year’s theme is: “La Grande Dame”!
From Homer’s “ox-eyed Hera” to Yannis Ritsos’ “cow in yellow”, the cow has remained a quiet presence in Greek poetry and literature. Our mythology not only celebrates her beauty, as in the myth of Io, but also acknowledges her importance to human survival. In the Odyssey, the Cattle of the Sun are sacred creatures, and their slaughter an act of folly leading to ruin.
Providing milk, butter, cheese and cream, and sustaining people throughout the centuries, the cow has been an untiring partner in the work of the land, from ploughing fields to carrying loads. Across generations, she has been a cornerstone of human self-sufficiency and prosperity, a symbol of good husbandry, stability and dignity.
It is always fitting to remember her, but perhaps even more so in uncertain times. For this reason, we have chosen to dedicate this year’s summer photography contest to this archetypal symbol of femininity, to this silent and dignified companion of humankind, to the Grande Dame of rural life: the cow.
1. The present photography contest “TRAGOS Photo Beauty Contest: La Grande Dame – SUMMER 2026» (hereinafter: «Contest») with duration from 21.6.2026 until 21.9.2026 is conducted by the company “TRAGOS S.A.” (Comm. Registry No.: 146721901000) – www.tragos.gr
2. The Contest is open to professional and amateur photographers who are of 18 years of age or older.
3. Participation in the Contest is free of charge.
4. Participating in the Contest requires the unconditional acceptance of its present terms. To this end participants must with the submission of their photograph as provided under 5 hereof also submit a copy of the present terms.
5. Each photographer may participate in the Contest with one (1) photograph. To validly participate in the Contest, each participant must send until 20.9.2026 his photograph in electronic file [acceptable file types: .jpeg ή .png / ideal analysis: 72dpi / ideal size: 1920 x 1080pixel], along with a copy of the present terms (to be found here via email at info@tragos.gr, mentioning in their message their full name and the location where the photograph was taken, e.g.: Tragakis-Nikos-Attiki-Legraina.
6. The processing of the participants’ personal data (full name, email address) submitted to our company with the aforementioned email of their participation, is necessary for the purpose of conducting the Contest (indicatively, to contact the participants, to associate the submitted photographs with the participants, to publish the photograph and the winner’s name on the website of the company according to the terms of the Contest, to inform about future photography contest etc). By submitting their participation as above, the participant certifies that they have read and accept the data protection policy of our company, published at https://tragos.gr/en/data-protection-policy/
7. Our company intends to inform the public about the Contest also over Facebook. As required by Facebook’s terms of use (https://www.facebook.com/policies_center/pages_groups_events) each participant (a) fully releases and holds Meta harmless from liability, and (b) acknowledges that the promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Meta.
8. For data protection purposes, it is prohibited to submit photographs featuring people. Photographs featuring people will not be accepted into the Contest and will be deleted.
9. By submitting their photograph, each participant a) certifies that the submitted photograph is exclusively their own work and that they own all intellectual property rights on the photograph, and b) grants to our company “TRAGOS S.A.”, without compensation, the non-exclusive right of indefinite duration to publish the photograph – always with the mention of the photographer’s name- on its website (www.tragos.gr) and on its Page on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61561866487157). It is clarified that photographs produced with the assistance of artificial intelligence are not considered as “exclusive work” of the photographer and will not be accepted to the Contest.
10. The photographs will be assessed based on their originality and general aesthetic. The decision of our company on the winner is final and irrevocable and does not require justification.
11. The announcement of Contest’s results is expected to occur until the 15.11.2026 on the website of our company www.tragos.gr and on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61561866487157).
12. Οne (1) photograph will be awarded. The award will be a three nights stay for two persons (double room) with breakfast in the guesthouse “Musafir Ontas”, Kapesovo, Zagori. The overnight stays must take place within six (6) months from the announcement of the Contest results, after contacting directly the guesthouse “Musafir Ontas” to confirm availability. If the winner intends to have his overnight stays during public holidays, he should proceed to his arrangements in a timely fashion.
