It has been a while since our last update on farming (January 26th). Back then, we were glad for the snow because the earth really needed the water and the olive tree needs the cold to be able to bloom well. Now, in mid-April, spring is in full swing and the olive groves look splendid!<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

First of all, it was important to get a good impression of the spring. After all, spring only comes once a year and is too short in this region. And there was plenty to admire!<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Next, the new grove in the “Monolos” location was visited. “Monolos”, which joined the project in February 2021, is a grove with 115 Manaki trees on a mild slope in the vicinity of the neighboring village of Athikia.<\/p>

Last autumn, this grove did not produce a single fruit, but this year, after Elton’s great care, its trees look strong and healthy, and their branches are full of well-formed buds. This also shows that this winter was colder and longer than the winter of the previous year, because last year at this time, the trees were already blooming (report from April 17, 2021)!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The other groves that were visited are generally in a good condition; the trees are bearing well and their foliage is full and strong. So, we can hope that the trees will bloom well.<\/p>

However, there is cause for concern, as it does not seem like there was enough rain during the winter or enough to make up for the effects of the drought of the previous year. The ground is already hard and dry and in some places it is already cracking. Will the trees find enough moisture to not only form the fruits but also carry and ripen them?
